Show me the Mummy!!!

Remember the movie with the line..."show me the money"? I couldn't resist the play on words!
My sis-in-law shared a blog link (click here) with me over the weekend and this gal has some terrific projects! This was one of them!
I put this guy together in about 10 minutes.
I took a Crystal light container, cut it down to make it shorter and wrapped it with gauze from my first aid cupboard! I cut circles for eyes and a small thin line for a mouth and attached it with Aileen's fast grab glue.
After I completed him - I got thinking.. (I know - rare occurrence ) what else could I do with this concept? I only have 1 craft fair in October and it is the day before Halloween so I wanted something for the winter season. So off to my drink cupboard for another container I skipped!
This one I did not cut down - I wanted it tall. I also wrapped a layer of batting around the container before I wrapped it with gauze. I cut out circles for eyes again and a small triangle sliver for a nose! I glued these on with the same Aileen's fast grab glue and added 3 black buttons. I grabbed some red ribbon and tied it around the "neck" and a small red heart button as well.

But.... what is a snowman without a hat? So I took the cover of the container and glued a large black circle onto the top. I punched a large scallop circle out of black and added a "tube" between them. I adhered them together with diamond glaze adhesive. it took a while to dry but it held together awesome!!! I added some regular Aileen's glue to the brim and covered it with white glitter to mimic snow! I punched a couple of small yellow flower and added some red bling to the centers. Simple as that!!!

Who knows what I will come up with next!!! Thanks for popping in!!

Happy Hot Humpday!

Good morning yet again! It is going to be another HOT one here in Maine today! So glad I am working in cool AC today!

Today I wanted to share with you a simple project and some variations of it that I came up with!
The first picture is a treat holder that I learned to make at a Stampin' Up party that Kelly did! She has some awesome ideas and her work is phenomenal. This one was stamped with a new Halloween set from Stampin' Up and uses the new Halloween paper as well. We used a few punches as well; like the circle, scallop circle, scallop border and the new (and spooky) bat punch! After I stamped the witch's feet- I stamped them again onto scrap paper and cut out the boots and placed them on the card (over the feet) with dimensional to add some depth! We punched 2 holes and tied black ribbon through them to hold it shut! (I took off the ribbon to measure the paper!).

The next ones are variations that I came up with all on my own (except for the last one!) This project is so simple to make for any holiday or reason!

The first variation is for Thanksgiving. Leave this on a co-worker's or teacher's desk or give it to a secret pal with some yummy chocolates in it! What else says "giving thanks" like chocolate??!!

I stamped the cornucopia and round border with a Just Rite Stamp set and the leaves are from my misc stamp drawer! Thought it tied in with fall quite nice!

These two are also for Halloween. I used pumpkin stamp from Just Rite Stamps and colored it in with watercolor pencils. The sentiment is from my ever growing supply of $1 clear stamps from Michael's! The other Halloween one is also using scrap paper and as I dug thru a drawer that had misc stamps in it - I found this adorable mummy stamp! Not positive but I believe it was also in a $1 bin at Mike's.

Now- before I share my absolute favorite one- I will share the directions for making these! Believe me - they are soooo easy! Here we go:

Take a piece of plain card stock measuring 12 x 4 inches. Score it at 4 1/4 inches, 4 1/2, 5 1/4, and 9 3/4 inches. Crease all score lines. Make the center score line go up into the holder and the other 2 are like "legs". The patterned paper measures 4" wide and however large you want it. I think I made mine 2". Add whatever embellishments you choose to coordinate with your theme. You can either punch 2 small holes through the front flap and back paper or add a half a velcro dot under the flap to keep it shut. Inside take a small cello bag, cut it to fit and adhere with sticky strip, leaving enough on top to fold down and tape shut. That is IT! Easy peezy!!!

And without further ado - my favorite variation of this cute treat bag............
Isn't he absolutely adorable???????????!!!!! I was searching on Splitcoast Stampers for craft fair ideas and I saw a candy wrapper someone had made to look like a mummy. All I did was make the bag the same as above in white card stock and then tore more white paper into strips and inked them with chocolate chip ink. I layered then on and added eyes peeking out from between the layers and voila! My Mummy!!! i just love him!
Well, that is it for today!!! Thanks for popping in! Stay cool!

BOO!!! Happy Halloween!!!!

TGIF!! And Happy Halloween to all!!! I wanted to thank you all for the birthday wishes I received!! I had a terrific day!

Ashley carved her pumpkin all by herself this year! Dad cut the top off and she went to town! She scooped out the guts and carved the face. She did a great job and was so proud of herself! It is displayed on our porch (but not where the dog can chew on it!!).

This year I really struggled with what to make for the kids in Ashley's class for Halloween. They are not little kids anymore but....... they are still kids!
I thought about making slime but then thought twice about it! I would be the cool mom to the kids but not the most favorite mom of the parents!!! So - I sent them home with pure sugar instead!!!!! :)

I saw a variation of this project somewhere online. So kudos to whoever made it first! Thanks for the idea! I decided to make these out of old manilla folders I had laying around. I was so excited. I used all items I already had on hand. I cut the folders, scored, folded and inked the edges orange to add a creepy feel! I then sealed the edges with red line tape. (gotta love it!) I used a clear acrylic Halloween word stamp set I got at ACMoore for $1. I arranged all the words I wanted onto a block and stamped onto the short end of the holder. I used another $1 stamp for the spider to/from end. I also used other Halloween stamps for the embellishments and punched them out with a 1 1/4 inch circle punch and a scallop circle punch, both from Stampin' Up. I pop dotted those embellishments to add some deminsion! Then all that was left was to fill with pixy sticks! (can you say "sugar high"??) These were fun and quick to make. Ashley just filled in the to/from section and is delivering them today!

Tonight we are headed to the school Halloween dance and then trick or treating tomorrow night. (I hope the showers hold off till we are done.) Ash is excited to be going as Cleopatra. I am getting into the spirit with my witch's hat, and my Halloween t-shirt today in the office! (my boss says this is what happens when we run out of coffee!!). And tomorrow night I am even attempting to dress up Maggie our dog, as a cowgirl! Have a safe and chocolate filled weekend!
