Happy Friday everyone!!! I hope you have had a great week! It has been a long week for us but we are managing. With the help of God and our family and friends, we will survive!!!
But I can say that being back into the world of blogging has been nice! (thanks Rachel for the boost!)

Today's layout is from our Boston trip last August. My hubby, daughter and I hopped onto the Amtrak DownEaster and went to the Boston Museum of Science. I had not been there since junior high and it was huge! We could have easily spent 2 days there. But we knew we had to catch the train for the long ride home so we paced ourselves and saw what was most important to each of us! My hubby was a little nervous about the logistics of the train and subway but my daughter assured him that SHE knew what to do!!! Too funny!!
The first picture is some of the fun things we got to see while we were there. I used some of the pretty circle paper I had hoarded and decided to cut out some of the circles to use as embellishments. For the title, I used the Cricut and decided to use the negative space of the title. Thought it added a little more interest!!

The next layout is some more of the wonderful things we saw while spending our day at the museum.
I decided to use some pastel colors to highlight some of the more feminine things from our day! (altho a skunk really isn't feminine!) I thought perhaps the colors would highlight some of the beautiful butterflies they had at the Butterfly Garden. If you look closely at the left hand page, on the bottom right, Ash is actually touching a sheep heart. All I could say was "eeewwwhh". (She thought it was cool)!
The paper is another one from my large paper pad. I love receiving those pads as you have many coordinating papers! I used some felt flowers with bling in the middle as accents on my page. I had picked up these great flowers at the CKC convention last year! Some many wonderful things can be found there!
Well, I hope you have a fantabulous weekend! The weather here in Maine is supposed to be wonderful. 70-80's and no humidity! Gotta love it! Enjoy!!

a day in the summer of 2009

Good morning all! Here is another layout I made of one of our day trips last summer.

Living in beautiful Maine, there are so many things to see and do! Ashley and I decided to take a trip to Boothbay Harbor. What a quaint little town. We visited the aquarium there and had some hands on time with their creatures!!! The view from the front porch was fabulous as well!

As an added feature - they have picnic tables down near the shore for a seaside lunch! After our picnic lunch - we wandered into town and visited the many little shops along the shore!

Once again - I scrap lifted this layout idea from one of my many, many sketch books. I decided to keep it as simple as possible to let the pictures do the talking. The patterned paper is a page from a pad of patterned paper I received as a Christmas gift! I love paper. I am trying hard to use some of the pretty papers I have collected over the years! I guess that would put me into the paper hoarder status! Baby steps, baby steps!!!

Stay tuned as I have more layouts to share this week!!! If you have any ideas for me - please let me know! I love to hear from you!!! Have a Happy Friday Eve!!!!

A sad day

Today was a sad day in the Walker household. This morning we had to have our lifelong pet put down. We got Meesha when she was 8 weeks old and just turned 12 in June. She was an awesome dog and will be sadly missed.
On the other side of this sad coin - Ashley got a new pet over the weekend. An hamster she named Nutmeg. Isn't she cute? Hopefully this new member of our family (along with our lovable lab Maggie) will help us through this time!

Thanks to everyone who send well wishes for us! We really appreciate them.

Till tomorrow...

Here we go!!

Happy Wednesday!!! I have a couple of layouts to share with you. I was scrapping softball of last year and had so many pictures that I had to do several layouts!!!!! And to think that by going digital with my camera - I was dealing with less pictures!!! Ha Ha!!

The first one is made with Rusty Pickle paper I picked up specifically for softball. Not because it has anything to do with softball but it was pirate paper! Of course - having a team called the Canton Pirates, it called for special paper!!!

The next one is a simple layout but I love it! I wanted something to show the many positions Ash played last year. I love sketches and recently got a new sketch book (with only sketches, no pictures to sway my color choices!!!). This layout is from that book.
I simple used green card stock and painted some chipboard stars bright yellow! I made some glitter-y spray with rubbing alcohol and shimmer paint from Stampin' Up. I sprayed this on the stars. Added a few embellishments and poof - my layout!

The next 2 show pictures of the photos I had made at Walmart that look like a magazine cover. Once again - I got the layout ideas from sketches! (I haven't had an original thought in ages!!!)

That is it for today! Thanks for popping in and sticking with me while I took a break!!! It feels great to be back posting! Have a terrific day!

back from the land of the lost!

Ok- I know.... I know....Where have I been? Would you believe the elves took me and made me work for them? Or perhaps I was abducted by Carlos the pool boy and taken to the Caribbean for an extended vacation?

Well, to tell the truth.... I have just been plain busy. Time has certainly gotten away from me but I am back!

Let's see... what have I been up to? School is obviously out for the summer. Ash has been busy! VBS, softball and swimming lessons have come and gone. This year - she actually shocked me with her swimming ability. Add a set of goggles with the nose piece and she was doing flips and tricks!!!!

We did go to Portland Head Light on the fourth of July. It was soo HOT! I couldn't believe it. I actually thought it would be cooler at the coast but NO! Got some great pictures tho!
And - I have been doing a few scrapbook pages. I am planning on uploading some pics tonight. Believe it or not - I took advantage of a few online photo printing specials and am all caught up on my picture printing. Now to just get going and get them scrapped!! i also need to work on some projects for the Relay for Life Open house in November! Better get going now before it is too late. Small projects that can be made in multiples!

I did get the new Owl Punch from Stampin' Up last night and I love it! He comes out sooooo cute! So many possibilities!

Well, enjoy your sunshiny day and be on the lookout for pics from my world!!!!
