BOO!!! Happy Halloween!!!!

TGIF!! And Happy Halloween to all!!! I wanted to thank you all for the birthday wishes I received!! I had a terrific day!

Ashley carved her pumpkin all by herself this year! Dad cut the top off and she went to town! She scooped out the guts and carved the face. She did a great job and was so proud of herself! It is displayed on our porch (but not where the dog can chew on it!!).

This year I really struggled with what to make for the kids in Ashley's class for Halloween. They are not little kids anymore but....... they are still kids!
I thought about making slime but then thought twice about it! I would be the cool mom to the kids but not the most favorite mom of the parents!!! So - I sent them home with pure sugar instead!!!!! :)

I saw a variation of this project somewhere online. So kudos to whoever made it first! Thanks for the idea! I decided to make these out of old manilla folders I had laying around. I was so excited. I used all items I already had on hand. I cut the folders, scored, folded and inked the edges orange to add a creepy feel! I then sealed the edges with red line tape. (gotta love it!) I used a clear acrylic Halloween word stamp set I got at ACMoore for $1. I arranged all the words I wanted onto a block and stamped onto the short end of the holder. I used another $1 stamp for the spider to/from end. I also used other Halloween stamps for the embellishments and punched them out with a 1 1/4 inch circle punch and a scallop circle punch, both from Stampin' Up. I pop dotted those embellishments to add some deminsion! Then all that was left was to fill with pixy sticks! (can you say "sugar high"??) These were fun and quick to make. Ashley just filled in the to/from section and is delivering them today!

Tonight we are headed to the school Halloween dance and then trick or treating tomorrow night. (I hope the showers hold off till we are done.) Ash is excited to be going as Cleopatra. I am getting into the spirit with my witch's hat, and my Halloween t-shirt today in the office! (my boss says this is what happens when we run out of coffee!!). And tomorrow night I am even attempting to dress up Maggie our dog, as a cowgirl! Have a safe and chocolate filled weekend!

Merry Christmas to all.......

Happy Thursday to you...... It is a pretty morning here in Maine and my b-day to boot! Thank you Missy for the yummy coffee for the start to my day!
I am excited to share today's project with you! I got the patterns and instructions from Inking Idaho's site (here) So worth the small price for the patterns!! You could do this for so many occasions. Christmas as I did here (and you could even fill with homemade seasoned nuts or candies), Halloween (filled with candy and spiders), Valentine's (filled with candy hearts and jewelry), birthday, etc. You get the idea!!!

What I love most about this pattern is the secret trap door in the bottom of the boxes. I hate having to rip open packages when I know I want to reuse them. So with my recycle theme, this trap door is awesome!!!!
I used the Holiday Lineup stamps from Stampin' Up! Of course, thank you Katie for letting me borrow this set! (I am excited to order this for myself!!!) You could even do a neat border at the bottom in black and white and then add a small popped circle with a section of the stamp colored! So many ideas, so little time!

Hope you have enjoyed this little project! I am hoping to case a great idea and do a 12 days of Christmas (but we will see what I have for time!!!). I would love to share some great ideas for your holiday gifts! There is nothing more heartfelt than a handmade gift, shared with love! Have a wonderful day!!!

Happy Tuesday!

Isn't this project cute?? I had seen several money gift cards online while blog surfing but wanted something unique for my niece. With the SU treat cups (which I love BTW) most cards you need to rip open the card to get to the goodies in the cup. I wanted something that could be reused! (recycle, recycle, recycle). So after much surfing and searching - I found this site that shows a neat way to make the most of your cards. I tweeked my card a little to make it bigger and into a money card, but the concept is still the same. I just love the Holiday Line Up set from SU too! I borrowed it from my great pal, Katie, but am planning on ordering it now! (Shhhh - Don't tell the hubby!) I can see me getting much use out of it!

I added some pennies to the treat cup and made my own inner pocket. I used a clear stamp ($1 from Michael's) for the Happy Birthday on the inside. I didn't even sign it so it can be used over again.
You can also check out Splitcoast Stampers for more great ideas using the Sweet Treat Cups! Click here to check them out!
I had a fun time playing yesterday in my basement! I even lost track of time and almost forgot to get supper going for my family!!! But the dogs barked and got my attention so all was not lost! The family got to eat a home cooked supper last night after all!!!
Have a terrific day and be sure to let me know what you think about all you have seen!!

What a rainy day!

Hello all! Today was a very rainy uninspiring day here. So the family and I headed to Portland for some together time and shopping. My hubby took us out to an early anniversary lunch at the Olive Garden! That was a great surprise! We went to the mall so Ash could use her Build a Bear gift certificate she received for her b-day. Then I went to the Christmas Tree Shop - love that place. You never know what you will find there!! (kind of like Mardens but better!!)
Then we went to Cabela's! We all looked around and found things we wanted. I even splurged on a beautiful purse! So - after all my best laid plans - no scrapping for me today. I might sneak down into the basement to try something tonight but we will have to see. I surfed a ton of websites this week so I have a bunch of new ideas I want to try!
It is now pouring and thundering here. Hopefully the sun will shine tomorrow. Night all!

Check out these cute ideas!

Happy Thursday!!! I found on Facebook this morning these adorable triangle treat boxes that were made by a very talented lady!
Check out her blog here. She has several cute punch projects that she has shared. I am anxious to try these out this weekend while I am playing in my basement studio (great name for my scrap space huh?). She has a great tutorial on here blog as well so you can try them at home too! I will post my results after I have made them! (and I say them... because you KNOW I am going to make more than 1!!) I am addding her blog to my favorites to see what else she comes up with! What a wonderful thing the internet is!
Well, have a Happy Day!

Happy Humpday!!

Wow - it is Wednesday already!! I am soo looking forward to the weekend. The hubby will be hunting and the kiddo will be at an Olympians fall harvest event at church! That means....... scraptime!!!

Today I wanted to share a couple of quick pics of some grocery list/notepads that my super friend Katie taught me to make. These are great gifts and so easy to make. All you need is some notepads, misc paper and an embellishment! You can even cut them in half to make them smaller! Add a small magnet to the back if you want to hang on the fridge! Super stocking stuffer for a secret pal or co worker!

Enjoy your day and I will see what neat things I can come up with tomorrow! Happy Day!

Some projects

Here are some of the projects I have started on to have at the Relay for Life Holiday Open house in November! I didn't want to make too much but knew I needed something to help Ash out with her project! So - here are some of the starter ideas! I have probably cased many of my projects from other sites I frequent. So - if you designed one of my projects, thank you - I never claim any idea as my own since I never have claimed to have thought that was my own!!! :)

The first pic is some get well cards I made. I just love the SU Pick a Petal set. There is sooo much you can do with it! When I saw these cards on Splitcoast I knew I just had to make them. It is a terrific way to use up colored scraps too! I am sure I will be making more as flu season hits here in Maine!

The next pics are a couple of gift card holders. I believe I saw how to make these on Dawn's Stampin Thoughts. She has some terrific tutorials over there - be sure to check her out! And she is super funny to boot! Gotta love her!
Have a terrific Tuesday all!

Finally!

Well here it is Tuesday morning and I think I am finally able to post some pictures! The first ones are random page layouts I have done of my daughter. I am a scrapper by heart and then projects and cards! I do, however, love to use sketches to get the mojo for my layouts! The first one (above) is when we took the Girl Scouts to the Boston Aquarium~ What a great day! I wish the picture showed the fish better! It was beautiful! The one below is Ash with all her cookies! She loves selling cookies!Add Image They actually sell themselves!!

The one on the right is Ash with our puppy Maggie! This is the day we picked her out! She is now over a year old and into everything!! But she is my buddy and I love her!
The next 2 are a 2 page layout of a little impromtu photo shoot Ash and I did last fall! We went out into the woods and to a small park and just shot some pics! I loved how they came out!

News from the Basement!

Happy Monday all! It was a very unproductive weekend as I hurt my back and was unable to post any pictures or post at all! But today is a better day and I have been working hard in my scraproom and will have pics later today I hope. I am currently working on some items I have made to sell at a local holiday open house for our Relay for Life team. My daughter is working on her Girl Scout Bronze award and I am selling a few things to help her raise money to buy books to donate to area hospitals, nursing homes, etc. She has been doing a great job planning out her project so I thought I would help out a little as well. (if anyone has books they would like to donate - please let me know!) :) I have also taken some pics of some layouts I have completed lately. Well, back to the basement!
